Mission Statement:

To ensure that the services and programs needed to prevent further youth violence and support positive youth development in the South Asian community are identified, developed, funded, coordinated, implemented and evaluated.
Goals and Objectives:
- To share information, knowledge and resources among coalition members and other stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of available services and programs.
- To support and advocate for the acquisition of funding for the development, implementation and sustainability of effective services and programs from within the community and in collaboration with external (e.g., government) funders.
- To ensure that services and programs being offered by coalition members and other institutions and individuals are coordinated, effective and efficiently delivered (e.g., avoiding duplication).
- To be the voice of the South Asian community on issues related to preventing youth violence and the positive development of South Asian youth.
- To support community capacity building through outreach to the community and through facilitating the identification, development and implementation of needed services and programs.
Five Sub-committees of the SACCAYV:
In an effort to unite the community towards helping youth and families affected by gang violence, and to create long-term preventative strategies, a consultation with stake holders and community members (including youth) resulted in a three core areas encompassing a multi-faceted community strategy.

Given that our community has its distinct demographic features and encounters subsequent unique social and cultural challenges, it is imperative to systematically examine specific issues that plague our youth and families.
- Youth
Sub-Committee Chair: Rubina Mudhar
To build self-esteem and leadership skills amongst South Asian youth through education, mentorship and outreach. Furthermore, to promote awareness on the consequences of youth gang involvement and drug use.
- Media
Sub-Committee Chair: Indira Prahst
Creating awareness about youth gangs and the importance of parenting can be well-served by the media. Equally important is the prevention of the negative portrayal of youth and the community in the media.
